Frenzelit®

Frenzelit® is the generic term for several sealing materials from Frenzelit GmbH. This includes a range of different material qualities for different areas of use, especially for general industrial applications.

Frenzelit® qualities available from Rehm Dichtungen Ehlers GmbH

We supply Frenzelit® gaskets in rolls and sheets for further cutting into gaskets. The technical data refer to a material thickness of 3.0 mm. Frenzelit sealing materials are available in different qualities, which can be sorted into subgroups - depending on the base material used.

Novapress

The material Novapress belongs to the product family of elastomer-bonded sealing materials based on high-quality aramid fibres and special functional fillers.

Novapress is available in different qualities (Novapress 850, Novapress Universal, Novapress Basic, Novapress flexible/815, Novapress Multi II, Novapress Multi II EG) and covers almost all standard applications. However, each quality has special properties that favour the respective sealing material for selected applications.

Frenzelit® Novapress® 850

Novapress 850, which is also known as Novaform 2300, combines the excellent adaptability of elastomer gaskets with the mechanical stability of classic fibre gaskets. Consequently, the use of flat gaskets made of Novapress 850 lends itself to all those areas where neither elastomer nor fibre gaskets represent the optimal sealing solution.

The material is very adaptable and mechanically stable. Seals made of Novapress® 850 are approved for the food sector (FDA, EC 1935/2004) and water supply (drinking water approval according to Elastomer Guideline (ELL), W270) as well as gas supply (DVGW, VP 401).

Frenzelit® Novapress® multi II

Flat gaskets made of Novapress multi II are considered optimised steam gaskets due to the material combination of aramid fibres, graphite and special functional fillers bonded with NBR. The use of graphite in particular makes gaskets and flat gaskets made of Novapress multi II suitable for use with steam, heating oil, screw connections with torsional loads and under alternating loads. The temperature range of Novapress multi II is between -100 and +250 degrees Celsius, which is why the gasket material can be considered highly temperature-resistant.

Novaphit

Gasket materials of the Novaphit product family from the manufacturer Frenzelit are considered high-quality flat gasket materials made of expanded graphite. Novaphit gaskets are characterised above all by universal chemical resistance, excellent adaptability to flange unevenness and insensitivity to alternating loads. Furthermore, Novaphit gaskets can be used in the temperature range from -200 to +550 degrees Celsius and can therefore be regarded as temperature-resistant or heat-resistant gaskets. For this reason, Novaphit flat gaskets can be characterised as durable and reliable even in application limit ranges.

At Rehm Dichtungen Ehlers GmbH, the Novaphit product family includes the two sealing materials Novaphit SSTC and SSTCTA-L.

Frenzelit® Novaphit® SSTC

The Novaphit SSTC sealing material consists of expanded graphite with an insert of acid-resistant expanded metal. The purity of the expanded graphite in particular guarantees outstanding media resistance and maximum safety reserves during load changes. The acid-resistant insert of novaphit SSTC in turn leads to low leakage behaviour of the flat gasket used.

Seals made of Frenzelit® Novaphit® SSTC can be characterised by the following properties. On the one hand, they ensure an optimised distribution of the surface pressure and, on the other hand, they optimise the sealing behaviour thanks to their resilient properties.

The sealing material has been tested according to BAM and is also certified according to DVGW, Firesafe and GL.

For this reason, Novaphit SSTC is an intelligent sealing solution as a sealing material for almost all areas of application.

Technical data sheet:

Novaphit SSTC

Properties:

Density [g/cm³] at 3 mm thickness DIN 28090-2 1,25
Compression [%] ASTM F 36 J 38
Springback [%] ASTM F 36 J 15
Tensile strength transverse [N/mm³] DIN 52910 7
Frenzelit® Novaphit® SSTC TA-L

The Novaphit SSTCTA-L quality is composed of a combination of expanded graphite and an insert of acid-resistant chrome-nickel steel. In addition, Novaphit SSTCTA-L has an internal impregnation that significantly reduces the leakage behaviour of the gasket. Gaskets and flat gaskets made of Novaphit SSTCTA-L are considered to be of high quality in the sense of TA Luft (TA-L) and are also tested and approved in accordance with BAM, Blow-out VDI 2200, DVGW, Firesage, GL and VP 401.

Delimitations of Frenzelit® seals

Within the framework of the different qualities, three different upper groups of sealing materials from the manufacturer Frenzelit can be differentiated. Most of the qualities available from us belong to the group of fibrous materials. These include the various Novapress materials, such as Novapress 850, Novapress Basic or Novapress Universal. They are all based on the composition of synthetic aramid fibers, which are bonded with NBR.

The maximum operating temperature of the above-mentioned fiber materials is approx. 150°C. This is due to the fact that the bonded NBR dissolves at higher operating temperatures, resulting in screw force losses. PTFE-based or graphite-based sealing materials are suitable for applications with higher temperatures. PTFE as a material is considered to be almost universally applicable chemically and exhibits a high degree of adaptability. Compared to fibrous materials, PTFE gaskets can be used in the temperature range from -270°C to a maximum of +260°C and are thus among the heat-resistant gaskets. In the area of PTFE-based sealing materials, we offer various Novaflon® grades from the manufacturer Frenzelit, which differ only on the basis of the fillers used.

An even higher operating temperature range is made possible by seals made of graphite. The temperature range is between -270° C and +550° C. We at Rehm Dichtungen Ehlers GmbH also regard them as heat-resistant gaskets. We offer Novaphit® SSTC and Novaphit SSTC-TAL graphite gaskets from the manufacturer Frenzelit.

FAQ

What are Frenzelit seals?
Frenzelit gaskets are a range of elastomer-bonded fibre gaskets, fibre-reinforced graphite gaskets, graphite gaskets in general, PTFE gaskets and high-temperature mica-based gaskets from the manufacturer Frenzelit. Depending on the application area or purpose, individual flat gaskets can be manufactured from the diverse product portfolio of the manufacturer Frenzelit. Typical areas of application for Frenzelit gaskets are above all where reliable sealing solutions are required: e.g. in the offshore industry, power stations, chemical plants and in shipbuilding.
Can Frenzelit gaskets also be equipped with self-adhesive?
Frenzelit sealing sheets can be excellently bonded with a self-adhesive film. After finishing, the one-sided self-adhesive Frenzelit sealing material is processed into your self-adhesive Frenzelit seals using our various manufacturing processes - waterjet cutting, plotting and punching.
In which forms can Frenzelit qualities be obtained from Rehm Dichtungen?
As with all our gasket materials, we use Frenzelit sheet material to produce the right flat gaskets for you using various manufacturing processes. In addition to the manufactured Frenzelit gaskets, we can also cut the Frenzelit sheet material to the desired length and width. Finally, you can also purchase gasket material from us for your own production by the metre. All Frenzelit qualities available from us can also be equipped with self-adhesive on one side.
